Valentino Rossi won this year's Moto GP title, the first time ever he was riding a Yamaha. He changed from the all conquering Hondas to Yamaha this year and had taken it as a challenge to turn around the fortunes of Yamaha who had not won a single title since 1992. The three time world champion Wayne Rainey had done it for them in 1992. Many vetrans were skeptical about rossi's chances with Yamaha, but he proved them all wrong with his sheer genius at handling a motorcycle. To put his acheivement into perspective, Rossi had tried out a Yamaha for the first time ever this January. Also, the Honda is a far better bike in terms of the engine and general stability; and that inspite of all these things Rossi manages to win puts him in a class of his own.
Rossi now has four consecutive titles at the Moto GP level; this along with the fact that he switched to Yamaha, puts him amongst the greatest champions in history. I believe, he is the greatest.
